Matt Schafer is our Sales and Marketing Manager and your own personal radio nerd to help you figure out… what you aren’t sure… you didn’t know… Starting as a construction electrician in Vernon in 2008 He quickly developed a knack for problem solving complicated building systems. Since then he has managed various departments in Telecommunications, electrical, and technical sectors, performing sales and service as well as research and development of custom solutions. Matt has been told frequently he talks too much, but it comes from being very passionate about helping people understand the complex systems we have in today’s tech based era. If you’re looking for someone to nerd out with to get your questions answered he’s your guy!
Dan Cole

Dan Cole is the backbone of our service efforts. He manages our commercial, industrial and residential customer accounts for sales and service. He is the master of hiding wiring, custom mounting, and quick response times! Besides being awesome on the tools he is our Health and Safety Manager and ensures our jobs are WSBC compliant, that we are all staying safe and coming home to our families at the end of the day! His education in safety and his previous experience in telecom, alarm and security integration and solar power grid tied systems is an asset beyond words. Dan’s focus is on providing rock star customer and company safety, service, and support to all our vendors and clients alike!
Matthew Halsey
Matthew Halsey is the shipping and logistics manager at Vernon Communications, as well as an amateur radio operator with over five years of experience. Prior to his current position, Matthew was self-employed as a successful online bookseller, gaining valuable skills related to e-commerce and inventory management. Driven by his will to learn and succeed, we rely heavily on Matt now in his experience with 3D Printing, CNC Laser and Milling Hardware, and his eye for detail in our technical processes. He has been a fresh breath of air with his fresh ways of looking at problems. He has helped our office grow by leaps and bounds and he will help you do the same has he learns with you while providing impeccable customer service.
Corry – Owner
Corry thought his passion was going to be in Heavy duty Mechanics, he quickly learned that while he had a strong aptitude for it he much rather enjoyed the more technical end of the work. Corry then found himself in an electronics assembly line position learning the fundamentals of hardware design, assembly, and repair. As time went on he forged a new friendship with Jack Valgardson and Ben Guthrie. When they came together to purchase Vella Radio, a local repeater service company in 2007. With Their Combined experience by 2009 they had opened Vella Radio’s Physical Location that remains to this day!
Jack Valgardson – Owner
Jack Valgardson got his start in the early 1980’s in the far reaches of the canadian north as a communications technician in some of the most inhospitable places we have in Canada. In resource exploration his role in establishing communications was vital in the ongoing success of the team. From there he has served in many roles, but now he is one of our most valued technical minds. Helping us solve problems with ease due to his 35+ years In the radio communications industry. He has been at the forefront of helping people learn over and over again as technology changes year after year. We are proud to have Jack as our General Manager of the store as his expertise in complex radio systems makes the rest of us look like toddlers! He is a major piece of what makes our team so great.
Ben Guthrie – Owner
Our resident Prospector, Ben has been with vella radio since before there was a vella radio. He has a vast collection of prospecting toys and books, and has brought a whole new level of expertise with his fascination of metal detectors. This interest was probably fostered in the vietnam war when he was the communications officer on several naval vessels. His lifetime of knowledge stuns us daily as we work with him!
